Do you play left or right of the hazards?
Left is shorter and generally provides a better line into the green. Right is a much larger target area but the approach shot is fraught with difficulty (bunker or water if short and OoB if long) and is often a lay up just short of the green. The strength and direction of the wind, together with the pin placement are also considerations. Some advice from our members :-
“If you can carry the pond, aim left of the stream off the tee. If not, either lay up short of the pond or aim right of the stream”
“Aim at the water and hope you don’t hit it perfectly straight - the dual fairway gives you two chances!”
