Social media features in all walks of life and has many advantages if used correctly and professionally.
WhatsApp and Facebook are used extensively within the Club to communicate among groups and to promote what we are doing, but material, which is posted should never be offensive, obscene, contravene child welfare legislation or seek to bring the Club our staff or other Members into disrepute either intentionally or unintentionally.
It is very easy using these tools to contravene our rules and put comments and material into the public domain, so please think very hard and take extreme care if you are a budding keyboard warrior and want to put your views out there.
By all means post material which places the Club in good light, but never ever use social media to be critical in any way. Remember that this is our Club, it is your Club, so if there is dirty washing to be done – and there will be from time to time – please don’t do it in the public domain.
It is our policy neither the Board nor our staff will interact with Members on social media.
This may suggest that we are reluctant to receive comment and criticism, but nothing could be further from the truth provided that it is done in the right way and using the correct tools.
In particular the feedback facility in the Members section of the website has been used to good effect.
All comments or indeed complaints that are posted here will be followed up promptly and a formal response issued by our Club Manager Steve Dougan or the relevant Director.
One of the nice features is that everyone can see what has been written and view the response that has been issued by the Club.
It is very easy to use but I well understand that technology is not for everyone so if you prefer to write to Steve directly then please do so.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
