General Play Scoring Submission

For the benefit of new and existing members this is a reminder of how to submit a General Play Score (GPS).

It is recommended that members regularly submit a GPS so that their Handicap Index accurately reflects their current playing ability enabling them to play and enjoy a competitive golfing experience. It will also help a players record by having the necessary ‘five’ counting cards required for entry into club ‘Board Competitions’.

The GPS starts with your intention to submit a score which will be added to your Playing Record, this can be done in two ways.

1. Using the Ig app on a mobile phone, BEFORE, starting your round be it 9 or 18 holes, you must register your intention to submit a GPS. Select the course and tee you intend to play ensuring that your playing partner also has the Ig app on his/her mobile phone this will allow the score to be properly attested and the score finalised at the end of the round. Any delay in completing the finalisation process may lead to a Penalty Score being posted to your Handicap Record which may adversely affect your index.

2. Using the Touchscreens (located in the Pro Shop or club Hall Entrance) is similar to the above except you will be submitting a ‘hard copy’ scorecard signed by the player and the marker which should be deposited in the ‘Comps Box’ immediately after the round. It is important  the card is presented showing that it is a General Play Card which is clearly marked with players full name, time round commenced, date, Handicap Index and the tees used. Also, the card should be presented for the player and marker signing the card NOT with a group score containing 3 or 4 players.    In addition if the marker intends to submit a GPS this must be done on a separate scorecard.

We hope this information will clarify the GPS process, however, if you have any problems regarding the above please contact a member of the Competitions & Handicaps Committee who will be pleased to help.
